Safety
Fortunately, safety isn't an issue for the large majority of Brunel students. But you need to be aware that personal safety issues do exist regardless of whether you live on or off-campus, or are male or female. Precaution is the best method of defence.
Burglary
As the evenings become shorter there's usually an increase in burglaries and antisocial behaviour in the local area. Items like these are things you should make sure are protected!
We highly recommend you take out student insurance, particularly if you own these kinds of things. Endsleigh offer a range of packages.
The NUS have a video detailing how students most often fall victim to burglars. Don't get caught out!
Keeping safe
Never get into an unlicensed taxi. If you're out and need the number of a taxi firm - use TfL's Cabwise service. Text CAB to 60835.
If you are going out on a first date, always tell someone where you are going and who you are going with. University should be a time of new experiences, but this doesn’t mean that you should feel pressured to try things that you are uncomfortable with.
There's also further information for international students.
If the above has prompted any concerns, please speak to an ARC advisor. Help is available!
