UBS is run by and for students, and all of the leadership are students who are chosen by their peers in Elections. Any current Brunel student is entitled to vote or stand in the Elections, and there are a variety of positions available, from the full time posts requiring a lot of commitment to part time ones that require only a few hours a week. Elections are a fantastic event to be involved in and twice a year, for the Autumn Elections and then the Spring Elections, campus erupts in a frenzy of campaigning.
- 2 School Assembly Members per academic school;
- 20 Community Assembly Members to represent all students;
- Academic Minority Students Chair;
The nomination period runs from Monday 21 September to Tuesday 06 October, and voting will take place between Monday 19 October and Wednesday 21 October. To stand for any position please pick up a Nomination Pack from the Students' Union Reception in the Hamilton Centre, or visit the Elections website.
Later in the year the Spring Elections will take place to choose the 4 Student Officers, the 4 Standing Committee Chairs, and the 6 Working Group Chairs. Nominations will run from Monday 08 February 2010 to Tuesday 23 February 2010, and voting will take place between Monday 8 March 2010 and Wednesday 10 march 2010.
