What is a Part-Time Officer? What are these elections for?
Part-Time Officers are elected student leaders who volunteer part-time to represent Brunel students. They fight for the issues that matter—whether that’s improving campus facilities, pushing for better mental health support, or making sure your voice is heard at the highest levels of the university.
This year we are running elections for 9 part-time roles; Black & Mintority Ethnicity Officer, Disabled Students Officer, Environment & Ethics Officer, Gender, Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Home Students Officer, International Students Officer, LGBTQ+ Officer, and Womens Officer.
Elected each year, officers spend a year (part-time amongst their studies) getting volunatry experience leading on campaigns, challenging decisions, and shaping student life. Want to make a real impact? This could be your chance!
Become a Candidate
By nominating yourself as a candidate, you’re taking on the responsibility of understanding the rules and guidelines that govern the elections and the Students' Union. We’re here to answer any questions, but it’s up to you to make sure you’re clued up and don’t breach any rules.
To run in the elections, here's what you need to do:
- Complete the online nomination form correctly and have two proposers who will support your nomination. Each proposer can only nominate one person for each role. The Deputy Returning Officer (DRO), Ruth Sharma, will contact your proposers. If one of them says they didn’t nominate you, you’ll be withdrawn from the election.
- Upload a picture (max 1MB, JPEG format) and a manifesto (max 1000 words).
- Attend BOTH Candidates Briefings. Cameras must be on, and you must stay for the full session.
- Missing a briefing will result in withdrawal from the election by the DRO. No exceptions.
