Join Clubs & Societies – Whether it's a sport, hobby, or cause, it’s the best way to meet people and try something new.
Go to the Freshers Fair – Get loads of freebies, discover student groups, and learn how to get involved.
Introvert? That’s OK! – You don’t have to go out every night. But making an effort to connect with even a few people can really enhance your experience.
Stay Local During Freshers Week – There’ll be events all over London, but the best way to meet Brunel students is to stick to campus-based ones for the few first weeks.
Decorate Your Room – Make it cozy! A poster sale runs during Freshers so you can personalise your space.

Student Loan Delay? Be Prepared – Bring a financial buffer in case your loan is delayed. Budgeting from day one helps.
Student Discounts – From food to fashion, your student ID will unlock great deals—especially during Freshers.
Register with a GP & Dentist – Do this early. The on-campus medical centre and pharmacy are handy for advice and essentials.
Shop smart when buying groceries - The on campus shop is convenient but can be more expensive than others in the area. Why not try visiting the Lidl just outside of campus to save on your essentials.
Alcohol – If you drink, pace yourself! First impressions matter and staying safe is key.
Safe Sex – Free condoms are available at the ARC and campus pharmacy. You can also access chlamydia tests and the morning-after pill if needed.
Mental Health Support – Brunel takes wellbeing seriously. If you’re struggling, ARC and campus support services are always ready to help. Alternatively you can speak to our Advice team who are independent from the university. Find out more about our Advice team here.
