Hi, I'm Maia, your current LGBTQAI+ Officer.

Hi, I'm Maia Serket, your LGBT officer for this year. I'm a trans lesbian with almost a decade of history partaking in and leading LGBT spaces, and I offer an understanding ear no matter your identity. Please feel free to approach me on any topics regarding gender, sexuality or your queer experience at Brunel! Throughout this year, I shall be focusing on making this campus a safer and more welcoming space for queer students, by

-Working to ensure that, in regards to recent and upcoming announcements regarding trans rights in this country, the university responds in a way that has the best interests of its trans students in heart, and ensuring the best possible wellbeing of those students in the event of more pushback on trans rights.

-Creating a permanent space - physical and digital - that LGBT+ students can access at any time, where community and friendship can be found, resources on queer life and wellbeing can be shared, and concerns can be aired to people who understand you.

-Chairing the LGBT+ network in order to gather opinions from across the student body, so that your feelings on queer life at Brunel can be heard and policies kept up-to-date with student oversight.

I hope that I can work together with students and staff across the university to create the most queer-friendly campus possible!
