Eli Watson
Hey there!
My name is Eli Watson (He/They), and I am thrilled to serve as your LGBTQ+ Officer for the 2024/25 year. For many of us, having a safe and inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ students was a significant factor in choosing our university. After a year at Brunel, I am excited to help maintain and improve this inclusive environment.
As your LGBTQ+ Officer, my focus will be on:

Ensuring an Inclusive Environment: I will work to uphold and enhance the inclusive and comfortable environment for all LGBTQ+ students. This includes addressing issues affecting trans and non-binary students, such as ensuring preferred names are used in all documents and advocating for more gender-neutral/disabled toilets on campus.

Collaborating with the LGBTQ+ Society: I will work closely with the LGBTQ+ society to provide a safe, fun, and welcoming space for LGBTQ+ students. Whether you are new to the society or returning, we aim to create an enjoyable and inclusive community.

Organizing Fundraising Events: I plan to organize fundraising events to support Brunel’s LGBTQ+ community. Funds will go towards making our campus more inclusive, supporting the LGBTQ+ society, and potentially aiding local or national LGBTQ+ organizations and charities.

Supporting Against Discrimination: I am here to support and assist in reporting any incidents of discrimination or harassment, ensuring they are appropriately addressed in line with university policies. My goal is to offer full support to those targeted and ensure perpetrators face consequences.

Amplifying Voices: I believe in the importance of representing everyone’s voices within Brunel’s LGBTQ+ community. I will ensure that all discussions, policies, or decisions include input from the relevant groups within our community.
