The Brunel History society allows likeminded individuals who share a common passion in History to explore and learn more about the subject.

The Brunel History society.

We are a society comprising of likeminded individuals who share a common passion for the subject of History. The society aims to create an environment where members are able to explore multiple avaneuse of history through different mediums.

We aim to create a welcoming friendly environment for all members of the society and increase interaction and engagement with members. Through creative social events balanced between historical and non- historical themed social events. We aim to make the society a place where everyone’s voice is heard, so that members demands can be met.

We hold a range of creative and dynamic events, allowing members to immerse them self’s into new areas of the historical field outside the curriculum.

Events such as:

1. Talks from historically significant guest speakers. In the past, we have had the likes of Holocaust survivor John Dobai.
2. Talks from lecturers and researchers who have made new historical discoveries in their field. Most recently we have had Professor Matthew Seligman present to us his findings on Churchill’s pre-First World War Navy.
3. Joint events with the politics department have allowed us to enjoy discussion panels and talks from prominent political figures.

Non-historical events play a crucial role in the society allowing members to interact in a more relaxed environment.

Events such as:

1. The Winter Ball and Summer BBQ’s allow members to get dressed up and enjoy a special occasion where we celebrate their current achievements.
2. Trips to museums and interactive events held up in London, for example, in 20e0 we plan on a visit to the Churchill War Rooms in London.
3. The Winter Ice skating extravaganza
4. The film, and quiz nights
5. The History Society’s Trip abroad. In 2018 we went to Budapest. In 2020 we are going to Barcelona!
