Spoken Word Poetry

If you have always wanted a place to express yourself through poetry then this society is made for you!

The Spoken Word Poetry Society was founded to give people a chance to express themselves, and improve on their writing and performing skills. Our overall objective of the society is to create a comfortable safe place for people to hone their craft. We give a platform for people to discuss and share their own work.

Our society meets up fortnighly on a Tuesday at 6pm in LECT006 to discuss and workshop pieces you have created to refine and work on any issues concerning your poetry. We share progressive and completed pieces in the hopes of experimenting with poetic form and technique which enables our members to receive feedback from peers, and work on their critical voice.

Each term we aim to set up a performance within the Antonin Artaud building for our aspiring poets to showcase their work and bolster their confidence as a spoken word poet in front of an audience. With professional light and sound equipment, you will have the opportunity to experience first hand what a career in poetry looks like. You don't need to be studying a poetry module at Brunel to be a part of this society, we are open to anyone who has an interest in poetry!
