Beginner's Course
Next Beginner's Course will be starting in September 2022. Please make sure you turn up on time, and we will be registering you as you come into the hall. You will need to have purchased the union sports membership, and will need to prove that you have got this when registering. After registering you can get involved in our warm ups andthen we'll give you an introduction and safety talk. After that we'll get straight into shooting. Please see below for some initial safety precautions for before you attend.
- No loose clothing - especially on arms
- No piercings/jewellery/watches
- Long Hair tied back
- No open toes shoes
If you've never done archery before, we have a Beginner's course running for the first 5-6 weeks of term in October and also one in January/February where you'll be able to develop each week learning the basics allowing you to shoot safely with good technique. It's important that you join this if you have never shot before, as this will let us make sure that you are able to progress well.
Competitions
SEAL - South East University League
Informal competitions against other Universities in the South East, hosted at participating Universities throughout the year. Novice and Senior members are able to compete. The event is a great opportunity to meet people from other Universities on an informal basis and build experience for the BUCS Archery Championships.
Participating Universities include; Brunel, East Anglia, Essex, Imperial, Kent, London, Portsmouth, Queen Mary, Reading, Southampton, Surrey and Sussex.
BUCS is a formal event where you will represent Brunel Archery, competing against British universities from across the country, tackling the qualifiers to earn a place in the finals. The competition is overseen by Archery GB.
Socials
We have a number of socials taking place such as going to Loco's on a Saturday night, which we aim to do at least once a month. The photo is from this years Christmas party too. We like to involve Alumni members in our socials as they are part of the history of our team, and are able to advise and inspire the team as it goes forward.
