Societies

Society of the Year

The Society of the Year award recognises the growth and achievements of a single society that has engaged fully with the Union. This society consistently works hard to collaborate and/or fundraise, successfully engaging with both its members and the wider community. The society excels at delivering all its aims and objectives and demonstrates the values of the Union.
 

Most Improved Society

The Most Improved Society will be the awarded to the individual society that has made huge strides in its activities throughout the academic year. The society has increased in membership and has grown in prevalence on campus. There is improved engagement with the Student Activities team and notable improvement in the management of events and finances.
 

Society Member of the Year

The Society Member of the Year award recognises an individual who has gone ’above and beyond’ to support the development of the society. The individual has made a significant impact on the society’s offer to its members, driving a significant change or achievement in the society to help ensure continued success. They show consistent loyalty and commitment to the society. This award is open to any member of a society, whether or not you are a committee member.
 

New Society of the Year

The New Society of the Year award is presented to the individual society that has shown excellent initiative in its first year. The society demonstrates focussed efforts on gaining memberships and has held multiple successful events and opportunities for its society members. The society shows excellent use of Union recourses and good understanding and management of society finances thorough the Union. To eligible for this award, the society must be new to this academic year (2017-2018).
 

Student Led Event of the Year

The Student Led Event of the Year award is a celebration of a one-off event organised and run by either a student, student group, society or multiple societies as a cooperative. This award is available to any debate, show, race, nightlife event, screening or other one-off event our societies have created this past year. 
 

Staff

Student Staff Member of the Year

This award is to recognize the work of a student staff member at the Union of Brunel Students. The winner will have displayed considerable commitment to our members; having gone above and beyond expectations, provided an excellent level of customer service, maintained a positive and innovative approach to engaging with students, staff and other stakeholders; enabling students and staff to fully engage with and make the most of our services, events and activities.


Union Staff Member of the Year

This award is to recognise the work of a career staff member at the Union of Brunel Students. The winner will have displayed considerable commitment to our members; having gone above and beyond expectations, provided an excellent enthusiasm, maintained a positive and innovative approach to engaging with officers and students; enabling our members to fully engage with and make the most of our services, events and activities.
 

Special Recognition

This award is to recognise the hard work and commitment of any member of the Union – whether you are a club or society member, staff member, officer, rep… anyone! The recipient of this award will live and breathe the values of the Union, driving significant change or achievement within the Union.

 

Student Reps

CHLS Rep of the Year

This award recognises the Student Rep who has fully represented students in the College of Health and Life Sciences. They have gone above and beyond and worked with appropriate people to develop solutions to issues and feed this back to their students.
 

CBASS Rep of the Year

This award recognises the Student Rep who has fully represented students in the College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences. They have gone above and beyond and worked with appropriate people to develop solutions to issues and feed this back to their students.
 

CEDPS Rep of the Year

This award recognises the Student Rep who has fully represented students in the College of Engineering, Designing and Physical Sciences. They have gone above and beyond and worked with appropriate people to develop solutions to issues and feed this back to their students.

LBIC Rep of the Year

This award recognises the Student Rep who has fully represented students in the London Brunel International College. They have gone above and beyond and worked with appropriate people to develop solutions to issues and feed this back to their students.
 

Union of Brunel Students' Rep of the Year

This award recognises the Student Rep who has fully represented students as a whole and have fully engaged in the mechanism for feedback including SSLC’s and Student Rep Congress’. They have gone above and beyond and worked with appropriate people to develop solutions to issues and feed this back to their students. The feedback they have provided has been both positive and constructive and they will have been a positive facilitator of the student/staff partnership. They will have made Brunel University a better place for all students.

 

Fundraising

Event of the Year

The Fundraising Event award celebrates student-led fundraising events that are creative, inspiring and successful at raising awareness and donations for a good cause. The society will have received support from and given support to at least one charity or cause, such as RAG. The society demonstrates a creative approach to fundraising, alongside excellent event management and organisation.

 

 

 

Campaign

Campaign of the Year

This award will be presented to the campaign that has had a real and measurable impact on our members and community. This can be campaigns run by student volunteers, societies, officers or anyone else at Brunel. We will look at the depth of activity, the breadth of involvement and the achieved objectives.
