One in four female students experience sexual harassment. One in five female students experience sexual assault.

Events the past academic year (2022-23):

  • Tea Afternoon; on 4th October 2022, we hosted a free tea morning, enabling students to take a cup of warm beverage and some snacks in exchange for a positive written message note to the next person who visited our outdoor stall.
  • Meet and Greet; on 7th December 2022, we had a meet and greet with our members in which they helped themselves to slices of pizza and played games.
  • Empowered Campus' Campaign Masterclass; on 1st February 2023, we invited Empowered Campus’ Martha Jephcott to provide a masterclass on sexual misconduct on campus, and how to campaign for change. (On 14th March 2023, with the guidance of Empowered Campus, student leaders from eight different universities came together to demand better for survivors of sexual harassment and abuse. Each of the 8 student groups delivered a letter to our respective Vice Chancellors to request a meeting, and to celebrate the launch of a national Student Sexual Violence Experience Survey. Students of Brunel University were represented by five students from the Feminist Society.)
  • Brunch; on 17th February 2023, the students who were to become involved with the campaign gathered for brunch in the d20 Board Game Cafe (Uxbridge).
  • Pride; on 2nd March 2023, in collaboration with the LGBTQA+ Society and the Cult Film Society, a group of students assembled to watch Pride (2014) and discuss it with the panel.
  • International Women's Day Stall; on 8th March 2023, in exchange for a sweet written message about/to an inspirational woman, which was to be viewed by the next person to visit our outdoor stall, students helped themselves to free tea and snacks.
  • Meeting for change; on 10th March 2023, in an attempt to act on the anonymous suggestions we had members send through to us, we hosted a casual meeting to further discuss the future of the Feminist Society.
