Trustee Board
As a registered charity, we have a board of trustees who govern the organisation and direct how it is managed and run.
Our trustee board is made up of our full time officers, 3 elected student trustees, and 3 external trustees. Find out more about them below.
EXTERNAL TRUSTEES:
Nathan Townsend
Nathan was elected to our Trustee Board in October 2017. Nathan is a Brunel law graduate and an ardent supporter of the university. He works as a senior lawyer advising institutional investors. Nathan has broad legal experience combined with compliance and governance expertise.
Peter Smallwood
Peter was elected to our Trustee Board in July, 2019 and brings a wealth of campaigning knowledge to the Union from his experience in local government. Peter was in fact a Student Trustee in 2011 before becoming the Vice President for Academic Representation in 2012.
Julie Atherton
Julie was elected to our Trustee Board in October 2018. The Founder and MD of Small Wonder, Julie is a business leader, consultant and strategist with 30 years experience working with global brands in B2B, B2C and the 3rd sector. She has a particular interest in supporting equal access to educational opportunities for all and is an experienced trustee and non-executive director in this area.
STUDENT TRUSTEES:
Ravina Jignesh
Ravina is currently serving her second term of office as a trustee, having previously been elected in June 2021. Ravina has also held roles as a student governor and council member at CNWL College.
Florence Goodyale:
Elected in March 2023, Florence has a firm belief that the Union, as the symbol of student voice in our university, deserves strong support and student input to ensure that accountability is achieved. Florence has been an active member of the Brunel Community as well as an elected officer in the Law Society.
FABYEON BURGESS-YEARWOOD
Elected in March 2023, Fabyeon believes student involvement is the heartbeat of every university. He is a firm believer in equity, diversity, and inclusivism, and he promises to chart the Student Union in the direction of progression whilst upholding the organisation's core principles and values.
