WHO ARE WE?
Part business, part charity, part membership body – students’ unions are all seriously fun places to work.
They are organisations in their own right. Professionally run, but different. Professional teams support Elected student leaders so as they make change, improve lives and fulfil potential, we help make it happen.
The Union of Brunel Students is one of more than 600 students’ unions across the country. And with more than 15,000 members, 150 clubs and societies, a huge range of services and a bold strategy, we’re one of the most exciting. Our vision is to ensure that every student thrives at Brunel.
WHAT’S THE JOB?
The Union of Brunel Students Advice Service is our free, independent and confidential student advice service that is available to all Brunel students. We offer support and guidance on a wide range of student life issues such as Academic, housing, funding and wellbeing. In 2021/22 we helped and supported over 1188 students.
In many ways this isn’t a typical Advice Service, and we’re not looking for a typical Advice and wellbeing Manager. We pride ourselves on our innovative approach to service delivery and are looking for someone who shares that creative ambition and attitude.
WHO ARE YOU?
Being a skilled and experienced caseworker is considered essential. We are looking for someone who is both empathetic and pragmatic, and capable of handling an-at-times large and complex caseload whilst maintaining low response times and handling challenges with a positive and solution-focused attitude.
Key to this role is the leadership of the Union Advice Team. You should be someone with vision who is able to set ambitious targets, with the motivation and skills to execute them. Line management experience is therefore desirable although we would consider exceptional candidates without this experience provided, they were able to demonstrate relevant transferrable skills, including a capacity to lead, manage and motivate others, and an ability to take ‘tough’ decisions.
We are seeking someone who is self-motivated, driven, a strategic leader and a role model to others. Someone who is a team player, able to bring others along with them and to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
The successful applicant will have the ability to build strong working relationships, excellent written and visual communication skills and a passion to deliver and support students through tailored advice. They will also thrive in a fast paced, every evolving environment and have strong organisational skills that enable them to meet deadlines.
WHY APPLY?

We’re committed to equality of opportunity for all. We welcome applications from individuals regardless of their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, age, gender, or disability status.
