Our Union runs Loco’s Bar and The Venue here at Brunel University London. We operate these venues as a social environment for students to enjoy, including our Clubs & Societies. Also, as a revenue stream to help fund our services and activities, such as your academic representation & student experience.
This year will be challenging but working in our licenced venues will be a highly rewarding opportunity. Our student team complete multiple training sessions both online and in person. This includes Licensing, Customer Service, Health & Safety, and sessions from external trainers, such as the Met Police.
We’re looking for passionate, flexible and hard-working staff who are looking to work in a customer focused environment.
Shift Patterns
All team members are required to work a variety of daytime, evening, late nights and early morning shifts over a seven-day week and must be available for weekends. However, our shift patterns are flexible, and we’ll do all we reasonably can to support you during your studies and exams.
All successful applicants are required to work the key Mega Global events during the year, along with attending mandatory and compulsory training. (A failure to complete mandatory training will result in your job offer being withdrawn). Please note that any job offer is on the condition that you pass all right to work checks.

Job Description
Responsible To: Duty Manager - Grade: AG1 - Hours of Work: Zero-hours (Expected to be available to work minimum 2-4 shifts per week)
Job Function: The main purpose of this job is to ensure the customer receives the highest quality of services.
- To serve all customers in a fast, professional, and courteous manner.
- To ensure the customer receives a high standard of customer service.
- To maintain work areas and storage areas to a high standard of cleanliness, paying particular attention to Health and Safety guidelines.
- To ensure that all front of house areas are kept clean and clear of litter at all times and portray the Union in a professional manner.
- To assist in maintaining stock levels and stock rotation behind bars and within storage areas, notifying your direct supervisor of any concerns.
- To inform the Line Manager of any absence in line with procedure stated in the contract.
- Bring to the attention of your manager any comments reported to you by the customers.
- To be aware of and observe laws relating to licensing and have knowledge of the policies of the Union.
- To ensure all purchases are recorded through the appropriate EPOS systems using the procedure shown.
- To complete any such duties as agreed to be in keeping with the grade and general nature of the job.
- To implement and maintain appropriate systems as required, liaising with other Union staff as necessary
