How to Make a Complaint About a Club, Society or Committee Member
We want your experience in clubs and societies to be positive. But if something goes wrong, here’s what to do.
Complaint About a Club or Society
Step 1: Speak to the Chair
Try speaking to the chair of the club or society first. Many issues can be resolved with a quick conversation.
Step 2: Contact the Student Activities Team
If the issue isn’t resolved, you can contact the Student Activities team. We recommend popping in to speak to us in person first to ensure we understand what has happened. The first thing we will then do is to try to resolve the issue informally if we think that’s appropriate.
Step 3: Formal Process
If it can’t be resolved informally, or we believe a formal process is needed, we will ask you to submit your complaint in writing. We will then escalate the complaint to the Team Brunel Committee (for sports clubs) or Societies Guild Committee (for societies). They will handle it through the disciplinary process outlined in the Club and Society Regulations.
Complaint About a Committee Member
Step 1: Speak to the Student Activities Team
Get in touch with the Student Activities team. We’ll see if the issue can be resolved informally.
Step 2: Decide the Right Process
If an informal resolution is not appropriate or doesn’t work, we’ll advise you on the most suitable route. This could be an individual disciplinary process or a Vote of No Confidence.
Step 3: Follow-Up Support
Once the route is agreed, we’ll support you through the next steps.
For full details, see Section 3 of the Club and Society Regulations.
