The Union of Brunel Students offers our condolences and solidarity to all peoples affected by the Kahramanmaras earthquake. A series of powerful earthquakes and aftershocks have hit both Turkiye and Syria resulting in high numbers of casualties, with many still missing and catastrophic damage across the region.
We want all of our members affected by these events to know that your Students’ Union is here to support you. As a Students’ Union, our priority is ensuring the well-being of our community, and as such we would encourage anyone affected to reach out for support. If you or your family have been affected by the earthquake and you would like to access support please contact our advice centre via email on advice@brunel.ac.uk or you can come to see us in person in our offices in the Hamilton Centre Union offices.
The University Student Support and Welfare Team are also available to support you, they can be contacted on studentsupport@brunel.ac.uk or you can visit them in the Student Centre.
Our fantastic societies have already raised thousands of pounds to help provide support, and we hope to help raise even more!
Over the coming days we will be announcing various fundraising initiatives led by our members. We call on the UK Government to support those fleeing this and any natural disasters worldwide by accepting and supporting refugees and providing education opportunities.
We encourage those who can to support the emergency earthquake appeal to help people affected by the earthquake and support rescue efforts. Any donation, no matter how big or small, can provide vital support. Click the links below to donate to either the Disasters Emergency Committee or the British Red Cross.
