New Roles for a More Inclusive Union: Step Up and Shine!

We’ve got some amazing news: our upcoming autumn elections are about to get a lot more exciting with brand-new roles designed to make our Union more inclusive and dynamic. Whether you’re passionate about supporting home students, advancing women’s voices, or driving positive change, we want YOU to get involved!

Why This Is a Big Deal:

We’ve heard you and know that home students and women haven’t been fully represented in our recent elections. That’s why we’re introducing these new roles to ensure everyone’s voice is heard and valued. It’s time to make a real impact and help shape the future of our Union!

Available Roles:

• Postgraduate Officer: Be the voice for our postgrad community and work on cool initiatives to boost their experience at Brunel.
• LGBTQ+ Officer: Lead the charge in creating a more inclusive environment and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community with impactful campaigns.
• Home Students Officer x 2 (at least 1 woman to be elected*): NEW ROLE! Represent and support home students, tackling their unique challenges and building a strong community.
• Environmental and Ethics Officer: Communicate the concerns of students on environmental issues.
• NUS Delegate: Represent the student of Brunel University London nationally at NUS conferences.
• Student Assembly Chair: Lead our student assembly in discussions regarding issues effecting our student body.
• Student Assembly Community Member x 15 (targeting at least 5 women*): Help shape policies that reflect the diverse needs of our student body.
• Student Assembly Commuter Member x 2 (targeting at least 1 woman*): NEW ROLE! Make sure commuter students’ voices are heard and their needs are met.
• Student Assembly Home Student Member x 4 (targeting at least 2 women*): NEW ROLE! Focus on improving the campus experience for home students.

*Women candidates will be counted first when running the results.

These roles will work alongside the Full-Time Officers and already elected positions, such as the International Officer, to make student life even better for all Brunel students. Together, we’ll ensure that every voice and community on campus is represented.

How to Get Involved:

Nominations open in 10 DAYS (Monday 23rd September 2024 at 10am), so get ready to make your mark. Check out the details on our elections page for more info on each role, or swing by the Union Office to speak to a member of staff.

Nominations will close on Friday 4th October 2024 at 4pm.
