Brunel's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club! This is a submission grappling based sport and if you want to learn how to defend yourself, this is the sport for you!

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is one of the most effective martial arts that exist in the world, with BJJ commonly seen as a synonym of self-defence. The techniques learned in BJJ can be used in a competition setting, but more importantly can be implemented in self defense situations against individuals both bigger and stronger than you! When it comes to training BJJ, the nature of the sport and the way in which we practice makes it very friendly to beginners as injuries are very rare (but may still happen - it is a contact sport!), and sparring take place in controlled situations when you are starting out. 

 

The curriculum will be strongly based around self defence primarily in ground based situations, and standing as well. The benefits of BJJ are enormous; it includes the improvement of flexibility, strength and aerobic endurance, you'll be surrounded by likeminded individuals and these mats will create bonds and a community that will help you to push past your limits.
