Black & Ethnic Minorities Officer

The BME Students' Officer works to defend and extend the rights of BME students within the Union and the University. This officer campaigns for the equality of all BME students.

The Disabled Students’ Officer works to defend and extend the rights of disabled students within the Union and the University. This officer campaigns for the equality of all disabled students.

LGBT+ Officer

The LGBT+ Officer works to defend and extend the rights of LGBT+ students within the Union and the University. This officer campaigns for the equality of all LGBT+ students.

The Women’s Officer works to defend and extend the rights of women within the Union and the University. This officer campaigns for the equality of all women.

 

 

 


Your Student Chairs

 

Sahil Hamid
Chair of Student Assembly

The Chair is responsible for leading Assembly meetings and ensuring everyone in attendance has an equal say within the meeting. They are also responsible for ensuring that the meetings run on time and that a fair and balanced debate takes place on all items up for discussion.

Community Campaigns Officer

I organise and plan campaigns to achieve positive change for the community. Leading on matters relating to the community on and off campus such as; housing and halls, as well as developing community-based campaigns.

Anastasia Walters
Environment and Ethics Officer

The Union is committed to a strong and wide-reaching Environmental Strategy, overseen and driven forward by this working group, relating directly to the Green Impact infrastructure. The working group chair works with staff, officers, students and the University to ensure the strategy is developed and followed.

 

Omsai Jaman Jyothi
International Students Officer

The International Students Chair will seek to represent international students, ensuring that their experience and needs are considered both within the Union and the University. The International Students Chair is expected to be involved in One World Week and contributes the “international view” to all aspects of Union life.

I coordinate representation and campaigning work for the needs and interests of mature and part-time students in the Union, University and beyond. I work to ensure the Union provides activities, events and facilities that are appropriate and accessible to mature and part-time students.
