The Union of Brunel Students has a small but impactful staff team dedicated to serving the needs and interests of our members. Our size allows us to work closely together and make decisions quickly, while our passion for creating positive change means that every member of our team has an impact on helping us deliver our Vision to ensure that every student thrives at Brunel.
We are one of more than 600 students’ unions across the country. And with more than 15,000 members, 150 clubs and societies, a huge range of services and a bold strategy, we’re one of the most exciting.
What’s the job?
The primary goal of this position is to Manage and lead the student voice department in the Union of Brunel Students, undertaking high quality, influential and impactful research that helps all students thrive at Brunel and builds the Union’s credibility as the trusted voice of students through evidence-based insight. Lead the department in supporting and developing student academic representation and maximising the impact of the student voice at Brunel University.
Empower elected Officers and support the Executive Committee to fulfil active, effective representational and campaigning functions, through the provision of first-class analysis of policy and proposals, development of effective briefings and both proactive and reactive research and consultations.
Who you are:
We're seeking a motivated individual with a good knowledge and understanding of the Student Union environment and its structures and have an in depth understanding of current issues within Higher Education - If you have experience or a qualification in managing a team, that's a plus!
Our ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of approaches to lobbying and influencing in complex organisations such as Universities or governmental organisations. You should thrive within fast-paced environments and when managing campaigns, initiatives and/or projects in the charity or education sector.
We're seeking someone who is flexible, responsible and committed to not only leading a team but also working collaboratively and cooperatively with a variety of stakeholders. We need an understanding strategist who can positively engage liberation groups and is hands-on in implementing approaches to equality and diversity. You should have the confidence and understanding to provide first-class analysis of policy and proposals, development of effective briefings and both proactive and reactive research and consultations.
