What are the top 3 issues affecting students? (150 words max)
My name is Sannwad Tariq, first-year Business Management. In my brief time here, I have already been flooded with many impressive ideas and as an Assembly Member, I will be able to implement these ideas and similar ideas from other students. My main focus will be on student life, as a resident of on-campus accommodation I have felt the need to bring a few changes that will improve the student’s life on campus: - Assist first-year students to have a smoother transition onto university life - Improve facilities on campus - Assist full-time and part-time officers to improve the Student Union
What personal qualities will you bring to the role? (150 words max)
I have my share of experience in managing events for my previous college. I have served as the President of the E-sports society for 2 straight years in my A-levels. Those years were filled with various successful main events hosted by yours truly. Which includes holding national tournaments and participating in events hosted by fellow institutes, winning flawlessly at some of those. The difficult challenges in managing the team and fulfilling their needs and requirements provide them with a solid platform for them to give their very best at the competition. As an ex-Esports president, I fully understand the importance of teamwork and the relief of having teammates that share the same goals and determination. Moreover, I’ve also been a part of the Union council at my middle school and college which benefits me with loads of experiences in working together, critical thinking, and making decisions in tough times.
Why are you interested in being a member of student assembly? (150 words max)
As a Year 1 International student, I can fully understand how hard it must be for every student to settle in and thus I offer my full assistance to everyone who requires it. I encourage everyone to feel free to ask for my help and talk about their experience and focus on the betterment of their experience. I aim on bringing the voice of the people to the council and work on making swift positive changes.
