Help fix the student loan system. Have your say.

Help fix the student loan system. Have your say.

On 11 March, our student representatives joined students’ unions from across the country in Westminster for the NUS National Lobby Day: Don’t Freeze Our Futures.

They met with MPs to talk about the real financial pressures students are dealing with right now, and why the current student loan system is not working well enough.

That campaigning has helped lead to something important. A new Select Committee inquiry into student loans.

This is a big deal, because it means students now have a real chance to help influence what happens next.

This is your chance to be heard

As part of the inquiry, the committee is asking for views through a short national survey for anyone aged 16+.

We’re asking Brunel students to take a few minutes to fill it in.

It is a chance to be honest about what student finance actually feels like right now, whether that is:

  • maintenance loans not covering the basics
  • the cost of living making uni harder than it should be
  • worrying about money while trying to study
  • concerns about repayments in the future

Why it matters to you

This is not just another survey.

The more students speak up, the harder it is to ignore what students are actually dealing with.

Your response can help push for:

  • better maintenance support
  • a fairer student finance system
  • more recognition of the real cost of being a student
  • changes that make it easier for future students, and students right now, to manage uni life

Our student reps have already taken these conversations straight to MPs. Now the committee needs to hear directly from students living it every day.

It only takes a few minutes, but it could help shape a bigger national conversation about student money, support and what needs to change.

If you can, fill it in and send it to your friends and course mates too. The more students who respond, the stronger our voice is. This is really important and can make a real difference to your future.
