We’ve got some great news to start the year. The University has agreed to freeze on-campus accommodation prices for the 2026/2027 academic year, meaning there will be no price increase this September or for the next 12 months. This is the first time in over 35 years that accommodation prices haven’t gone up.
The Union of Brunel Students is proud to have fought for this outcome. Since the pandemic, students have been clear that the cost of living is one of their biggest challenges, alongside wanting better value-for-money services on campus.
That’s why the Union made this a priority. By collecting feedback through surveys, reps, officers, and everyday conversations with students, the Union took your views straight to the University and pushed for change at every opportunity. While this wasn’t an easy decision in a tough financial climate, the University has chosen to hold prices and deliver better value for Brunel students, and we’re really pleased they have decided to take this action.
This price freeze is the result of student feedback. It shows what can happen when students speak up and the Union works on your behalf. Your voices were heard, and the Union made sure they were represented in the rooms where decisions are made.
As students return to campus in January, we hope that this is welcome news.. We’ll keep working with the University to improve campus life and focus on the things that matter most to you.
Got an idea that could make a difference, big or small? You can share it anytime through the Union’s Ideas Portal and help shape what happens next on campus.
