Brunel Rugby wrapped up an incredible season in style with a commanding 45-15 win over Stamford in the Counties 1 Championship final at Twickenham on Saturday 17th May.
It was a statement performance from the squad, who stormed ahead with five tries in the first half to lead 33-5 at the break. Captain Jack Thorn set the tone early, scoring the try of the match within the opening 10 minutes. After a narrow loss in last year’s Counties 2 final, the team returned stronger and more determined, and this time, they left as champions!
This victory adds yet more silverware to a standout year for Brunel Rugby. The Women’s 1s secured promotion to BUCS Super Rugby and lifted the BUCS Cup, the Men’s 1s topped their BUCS league, and the Saturday side also clinched their league title.
Bring on next season - Brunel Rugby is on the rise!
