At the Union of Brunel Students, we believe in creating a truly inclusive and diverse leadership that reflects the voices of all our students. This year, we’re making women’s representation a priority, and we want to see more women stepping up to take leadership roles in our Autumn Elections!
We’ve seen the data and know that women have been underrepresented in recent elections. But we’re making real changes to fix that. New roles and processes have been introduced to ensure more women are elected and that women’s voices are at the heart of the Union’s work.
Why We Need You:
This is your chance to make a difference. Whether you’re passionate about supporting home or commuter students, advocating for women’s rights, or helping shape policies that improve student life, there’s a role for you to step into.
Here are just some of the key roles available:
- Home Students Officer x 2 (with at least 1 woman to be elected)
- Student Assembly Home Student Member (at least 2 women targeted*)
- Student Assembly Community Member (at least 5 women targeted*)
- Student Assembly Commuter Student Member x 2 (targeting at least 1 woman*)
- Postgraduate Officer
- LGBTQ+ Officer
*Women candidates will be counted first when running the results.
How We’re Supporting Women:
We’ve introduced favourable election processes that prioritise electing women in key roles. By standing in these elections, you’ll be able to access training, resources, and support to help you run a successful campaign.
Why Run?
By taking on one of these roles, you can lead important initiatives that reflect the needs and experiences of Brunel women and contribute to a more inclusive and representative Union. Your voice can help shape policies, improve student welfare, and drive meaningful change.
Nominations are now open, and we need you to help lead the charge for better representation at Brunel! To learn more and submit your nomination, check out the elections page or visit the Union and chat to the team.
This is your moment to shine—step up and help us make Brunel a better place for all students.
