We have been made aware of a phishing scam currently targeting Brunel students. These emails claim that tuition fees are overdue and may use pressure, deadlines or threats to encourage payment.
These messages are not from the University.
If you receive an email about tuition fees, the University will only direct you to the official payment methods listed here.
The University will never:
- Ask you to transfer money to an unfamiliar bank account
- Ask you to send proof of payment by email
- Ask for your bank details, PIN, card details or University login
If you receive a message like this, do not reply and do not make any payment.
What to do if you are unsure
If you think an email, call or message might be a scam:
- Get in touch with the Student Hub for advice and support
- Contact the University Finance team directly using official contact details
- Never feel pressured to act quickly. It is always okay to stop and check
Extra advice for staying scam safe
- Be cautious of unexpected emails, calls or messages, especially those creating urgency
- If you receive a call from an unknown number, ask for details and call back using an official website number
- Never share bank details or University login information
- Discounts or special offers on tuition fees are very rare. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is
