Women's Student Network's first event sells out!

Yesterday the Women’s Student Network hosted their very first event, a very cutesy, a very demure Galentines Girls Night In. Led by our Gender, Diversity & Inclusion Officer (Nimisha Pangeni) and Home Women’s Officer (Kusum Gurung), the evening brought together women from across campus for a cosy Sip & Paint celebration of friendship, creativity and community.

From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere was filled with laughter, creativity ad sisterhood. Wearing heart crowns, attendees sang along to their favourite pop princess, created memories, served face and fully embraced what it means to show up and celebrate your friends. Everyone had the freedom to experiment, try something new and express themselves without pressure. Paintings ranged from beautiful landscapes to cartoon favourites, the female form and abstract patterns. Beyond the painting, the evening created space for meaningful reflection. Attendees wrote thoughtful letters of affirmation to themselves and to their closest gal pals, sharing words of encouragement, appreciation and self-love. Taking a moment to intentionally uplift one another was a powerful reminder of the strength, softness and solidarity that exists within supportive female friendships.

A night dedicated to girlhood is important at every stage of university life. Whether you’re single, in a relationship, or focusing on your own journey, strong friendships and sisterhood provides grounding, reassurance and genuine joy. They offer safe spaces to be honest, to celebrate wins and to navigate challenges together.

Our first Galentines was more than just a girls’ night in — it was a celebration of friendship, creativity.
