Philippa Bowden (978, far left) gained selection by placing 6th U23W in Sefton Park, Liverpool

I think it's safe to say that our women's cross captain, Philippa Bowden, has had a phenomenal season thus far. Her accomplishments this winter alone include helping her home club (Aldershot Farnham & District AC) win a gold medal at the Southern Road Relay Championships by nearly 2 minutes at Crystal Palace in late September; as well as another gold at the National Road Relay Championships, held at Sutton Park in early October, and is currently unbeaten in the women's category in the London Colleges Cross Country League. Now, just to add another highlight into this sensational season, she has been confirmed a place on the British team at the European Cross Country Championships in Samorin, Slovakia, on 10th December!!!

This is not be the first time she has run in the colours of her nation however; back in July, Bowden was able to gain selection for the European U23 Track & Field Championships, in which she would storm round 25 laps of the Athletics track in 34:04.57 for 8th place in the womens 10000m!!

Philippa will joined by Jessica Judd (Chelmsford), Phoebe Law (Kingston & Ploytechnic), Amy Griffiths (Aldershot Farnham & District), Mhairi MacLennan (Inverness) and Amy-Eloise Neale (Wakefield) in the U23 Womens race, as the team aim to retain their title for a third consecutive year, and improve on the invidual bronze earned last year.

Congratulations from all of us here at Brunel Philippa, and best of luck at Samorin!!
