Looking Forward - BUCS Wednesday 18/01

As we enter the second term, many of Team Brunel's clubs will be aiming for league and cup titles, consolidating positions or even fighting to stave off relegation. A select few teams will be kicking off their fixtures this Wednesday (18th) and here we are previewing them;

Football M5; A tough season so far for the Men's 5th team as they currently post a 0-4 record in Div 6A however there are reasons to believe that they can turn fortunes around this term. A strong cup run was unfortunely stopped towards the end of 2016 however with full focus on the league now there is reason to believe this will be a strong term for the guys.They start this term against Royal Holloway, who similarly are 0-3 this year, and face them twice before the end of the season.

Netball 1; After an incredible season last year, having won Premier South & finished 2nd in the Netball Championships, this season was always a tough act to follow with the key departure of senior players. An acrimonious start to the season, seeing them post a 1-2 record in the first 3 games, soon changed with key wins over the teams around them, culminating in a 5-2 record just before Christmas. An unfortunate loss just before Christmas means they need a solid end to the season in order to secure 2nd place in Premier South. They also face their first Championship fixture on the 23rd February, pairing off against one of the teams from the Premier North.

Tennis M1; A mixed season so far from the 1st team as they currently lie mid table in Div 2A however they are still going storngly in the cup. With 2 of the 4 remaining fixtures against sides below them there is a good chance of a strong end to the season however it is the cup that their focus will be on this week. They face an East London side who are a division below but are currently unbeaten in all competitions. It will be a tough test however as one of the top ranked teams left in the competition it is not beyond the boys to be successful.

The fixtures are as follows;

Tennis South Eastern Conference Cup -  East London M2 v Brunel M1 - 11:30

Football South Eastern Division 6A - Brunel M5 v Royal Holloway M3 - 3G Pitch - 14:00

Netball Premier South - Brunel 1 v Cardiff Met 1 - 15:00 - Netball Hall
