A fairly quiet week on the BUCS front but nonetheless there were some crucial ties for many Team Brunel clubs. Many clubs sought to move into the next round of the cup whilst others looked to consolidate their strong position in the leagues. Some strong performances this Wednesday make up our choice of exceptional performers;

Men & Women’s Lacrosse: A double dose of fantastic wins for the Lacrosse this Wednesday to secure their places in the next round of the cup. A difficult season so far for the Men’s team wasn’t evident this week as they comfortably beat UCL to reach the last 8 of the cup.  A return to league action, against Kingston, will be a crucial tie in order to kick-start their campaign. The Women’s team had been faring better in the league but faced a tough tie against a strong UCL side that had a perfect 4 out of 4 record so far this season. A fantastic away performance saw the Women side emerge victorious 7-4 and they are now through the quarter finals of the cup.

Women’s Rugby Union; On the back of two back to back very impressive home wins so far this season, the Women’s team travelled to Imperial College London seeking to continue their fine start to the season. This Wednesday was no different and they strolled to a win over Imperial however there was one major difference between this result and the others; the score line. It was one thing to restrict the opposition to just 7 points but to score 122 points themselves was an incredible team effort. In perhaps one of the highest wins in the history of BUCS could the girls continue this fantastic run of form and secure the title?

Men’s Fencing: Another week, another win. With a 100% win ratio in the league so far, attentions turned to the cup this week and a tough away tie against Royal Holloway. A win earlier in the season meant spirits were high in the camp and they came away from the tie with a victory, defeating their opponents 116-106. A big clash against another undefeated team (Imperial College) next week is next and a win will ensure they end 2015 top of the table.

Men’s Hockey: An indifferent start to the season was rejuvenated this Wednesday with a fine performance by the Men in the cup. After an impressive 9-0 win in the second round, Brunel looked to book their place in the quarter finals of the cup. The Men were in fine form and matched the score line from the previous round, defeating Royal Holloway 9-0 to set up a tie with Imperial. A return to league action and a crucial fixture against Portsmouth is next in store for the Hockey team.
