Monday 18th January marks 2016's Blue Monday.
?The festivities of Christmas seem so long ago now, the warm weather is far away, and it's still nowhere near pay day. And it's a Monday. This has been determined to be the saddest day of the year, and dubbed as 'Blue Monday' for that reason!
The Union of Brunel Students, Well@Brunel, and the Library have teamed up to put on a morning of goodwill to help staff and students alike through the low morale and to make us think about what makes us happy.
There will be a stall in the entrance of the Lecture Centre from 8:30am until midday on Monday giving out free tea, coffee, and fruit to the students who have dragged themselves out of bed for a 9am lecture, and for the staff that have no choice! Well@Brunel will be doing a 'What Makes You Happy?' tree, to encourage people to think about what they have to be happy about.
The Library are going to set up a station with colouring books and pens, and there's even a competition to see who can design the best donut - all staff and students are invited to take part! Simply design your donut (use your imagination!) and the best three entries will receive a tray of donuts EACH! Make sure you get your entries in before midday! Either drop in your design to the Student Union reception or email it to Kerri.Prince@brunel.ac.uk for a chance to win.
You can also go to www.bigwhitewall.com and express yourself openly and freely from the comfort of your desk!
Get involved and use the hashtag #BeBruNotBlue on social media to show what you're doing to tackle Blue Monday and how you're raising the morale of people around you.
Although our activities for Blue Monday are designed to cheer people up on the 'saddest day of the year', it is also an opportunity to signpost people towards help that they can get for their mental health.
