Over 250 people turned up to the Union of Brunel Students' Eid celebration on Saturday, bringing people together from parts of the community. Students, staff, and members of the public were invited to attend the event and celebrate together.
The event was co-hosted by UBS, the Brunel Islamic Society, and the Uxbridge Muslim Association. Several Hillingdon Councillors turned up to share in the celebrations, as well as the Mayor and Mayoress of Hillingdon. The celebration attracted a diverse group of people, with the children playing on a bouncy castle and taking part in quizzes, and even a quiz for the adults!
Angie Brydges, Brunel Volunteers Interim Manager and local resident said: "I have never been to an Eid celebration before so I wasn't sure what to expect. Sharing food and participating in the celebrations with the Union staff, Brunel students, and members of the local community was an uplifting experience. My 85 year old father who attended with me commented on the generosity of spirit of all the people he met; the kindness, courtesy and warmth that was shown to him was so well received."
Ali Milani, Union President spoke at the event and described it as: "A manifestation of our continued efforts to better represent the under represented."
