Unsurprisingly, London Universities top the retention rates for graduate employment
Maps released by the Higher Education Funding Council for England this week show the movement of graduates across England in an effort to seek employment. Unsurprisingly perhaps, London is a key destination for graduates finishing at Universities across the country.
The maps, based on data collected on students who graduated in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 academic years, outline the mobility of students from those that remained in their home region for employment, to those that moved across England seeking employment.
For London, 71% of graduates who studied at a London-based institution also seeked employment in the region. 82% of graduates where London is their home region also sought employment here.
Where graduates have moved across the country seeking employment, the maps suggest that a majority of graduates are more likely to seek employment in the region where they studied, with London being the second region where graduates seek employment.
