Every year, Mental Health Awareness Week takes place from 1st March to 31st March, focusing on the importance of community in fostering mental wellbeing. The campaign highlights how strong, supportive networks can provide individuals with a sense of belonging, security, and emotional resilience. Through a variety of engaging initiatives, this annual event reinforces the message that mental health matters and no one is alone.
Exam Outreach Initiative
During 12th–18th May, students receive hydration, snacks, and mental health support outside the Indoor Athletic Centre (IAC), with a backup location near the library. Health & Wellbeing Managers and Student Advisors are present to assist students during revision periods and after exams, ensuring they stay nourished and supported.
Wellbeing Fair: A Celebration of Self-Care
On 15th May, the Wellbeing Fair takes over The Atrium & The Venue, offering a diverse range of interactive stations designed to enhance mental health. Attendees can enjoy a mindful colouring station, a silent disco with a bouncy castle, and yoga sessions, along with stalls focused on activities that encourage happiness and relaxation.
Each year, self-care boxes are distributed, containing essential oils, relaxation teas, and emotional regulation tools.
Tranquil Touch – Head Massages for Relaxation
On 16th May, professional head and shoulder massages are offered in Hamilton Room 14c (Advice Room), providing students with a much-needed opportunity to unwind after exams. The Portable Wellness Room enhances the experience by offering free snacks and bath salts, ensuring relaxation extends beyond the massage session.
Year after year, Mental Health Awareness Week continues to make a lasting impact by fostering inclusive, supportive environments where individuals can thrive. Through thoughtful initiatives and engaging activities, students are reminded that their mental wellbeing is a priority, and they are never alone.
