Autumn Elections 2025 – Candidate Information

Thank you for nominating yourself in our Autumn Elections! 

Here’s everything you need to know to become a confirmed candidate. Please read carefully, as you must complete each step by the deadlines.

What happens next

  • We will contact your two proposers to confirm their support.

  • If a proposer tells us they did not give permission to be listed, you will be withdrawn from the election.

Steps to Become a Candidate

Step 1: Upload your Manifesto and Picture

Deadline: Friday 10th October 2025, midnight

  • Write your manifesto (maximum 1000 words) explaining:

    • What you want to achieve if elected

    • Your skills, experience, and qualities

    • What makes you stand out against other candidates

  • Upload a picture (JPEG, less than 1MB)

  • Log in to our website to upload once your nomination is submitted

Step 2: Confirm Your Eligibility to Run

Deadline: Friday 10th October 2025, midnight

Some roles have specific criteria, for example:

  • Commuter Student role: must live more than two miles from campus and be eligible to apply for on-site parking

  • Home Student roles: candidates must be Home Students

  • Women’s roles: candidates must self-define as women

Step 3: Confirm Your Campaign Team

Deadline: Friday 10th March 2025, midnight

  • Each candidate may have up to 10 campaigners

  • Campaigners must:

    • Be approved by the Deputy Returning Officer (DRO)

    • Attend a campaigner briefing session

  • Anyone who does not attend a briefing cannot campaign

Submit your campaign team details using the campaign team form.

You must also email Maria with a picture of each campaigner by Friday 10th October 2025.

Option 1

  • Date: Tuesday 14th October 2025

  • Time: 3pm – 4.30pm

  • Location: Join the meeting now

  • Time: 3pm – 4.30pm

Step 4: Campaign Poster and Leaflet Printing

Deadline: Wednesday 15th October 2025, midnight

  • You may have 20 A3 posters and 100 flyers (full colour)

  • The Union pays for printing and you are not allowed to print your own

  • Submit designs by email to Maria before the deadline

  • Proofread carefully, as only one version will be printed

Step 5: Candidates Briefing (Mandatory)

Dates: 13th – 15th October 2025

All candidates must attend one of the sessions below, with your camera on, for the full duration. Missing this will mean withdrawal from the election with no exceptions.

Other Important Dates

  • Register to vote online: Friday 3rd October – Sunday 19th October 2025

  • Campaigning starts: Monday 20th October 2025 at 10am

  • Campaigning ends: Thursday 23rd October 2025 at 5pm

  • Voting opens: Wednesday 22nd October 2025 at 10am

  • Voting closes: Thursday 23rd October 2025 at 5pm

  • Results count: Friday 24th October 2025 at 11am

  • Results announced: Friday 24th October 2025 at 5pm
