    prayer room in library

    Current
    • Campus
It would be very convenient to have a prayer room in the library as there are many Muslims who need to pray and can't access the meeting house after 4 pm and the Isambard complex is a long walk. An allocated space in the library would be very helpful for many students.

10:28am on 8 Dec 23 Thank you for your idea! please encourage students to like your idea, the more likes the better! As this idea has over 25 votes, I will start to have conversations with the relevant University staff to see what may be possible. Space on campus is limited which may be an issue but lets start that conversation.

12:52pm on 13 Dec 23 Quick update: I am meeting with the Deputy Vice Chancellor and University’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Lead (Students) in the New Year to discuss what can be done to meet religious needs of the Brunel Community. It is likely we will need to gather some student feedback as a result to try to ascertain what students would like. Please continue to vote on this idea.

11:25am on 15 Dec 23 I believe this is a very great idea as it will be more convenient for people to have a space to pray closer to their classes instead f going all the way to the end of of campus to Isambard studios to pray.

6:23pm on 16 Jan 24 We met with the Deputy VC today to discuss the need for more prayer space in the hub of campus (closer to lessons). Longer term there is definitely a need for dedicated, purpose built, Multi faith prayer space and our Community Living Officer will be working closely with the University to ensure future infrastructure plans include this provision. In the short term we are looking to get several smaller spaces dotted around campus accessible to students for prayer in the hub of campus (closer to lessons). Our Community Living Officer will keep you all updated with progress on this.
