Union of Brunel Students Elections: Nominations are open

Want to make a real impact at Brunel? Become a candidate and run for one of three full-time Sabbatical Officer roles: Education President, Student Activities President, or Welfare & Inclusion President.

As an elected student leader, you’ll fight for change, represent student voices, and get paid to shape university life—whether it’s improving campus facilities, pushing for better mental health support, or leading campaigns that matter.

Ready to lead?

Join a student focus group

Your voice matters! Join a focus group and share your thoughts on student life at Brunel while receiving a £30 voucher as a thank-you.

Run by independent research agency Alterline, these one-hour sessions provide a space for students to openly discuss their experiences, challenges, and ideas in a supportive group setting. This is part of an ongoing initiative to better understand and improve student life at Brunel.

All perspectives are valued, and we encourage students from diverse backgrounds to take part.

Brunel Teaching Survey is back!

After the success of last semester’s survey, we want your feedback again to keep improving teaching at Brunel. Last time, we saw great praise for departments like Brunel Business School, Computer Sciences, and Brunel Law School for their engaging lectures. However, many departments scored low on providing useful or timely feedback.

Now it’s time to share your thoughts again! Check your Brunel email on Monday, 24th February for your personalised survey link. It’ll take just 5-7 minutes to complete and will be open until 3rd March. Don't miss the chance to make your voice heard!

Upcoming Strike Action

Brunel University staff are set to take strike action and participate in Action Short of a Strike (ASOS) from 28th February to 11th August 2025. This will impact teaching, assessments, and student services, with various departments affected. This is due to the university's restructuring efforts amid financial challenges. The Union of Brunel Students is in active discussions with the university to reduce disruption and ensure students receive clear communication and support. If you're concerned about how this may affect your studies, contact your Course Rep or the Advice Service. Stay updated by following the university’s announcements and social media channels.

Sikh Society

The Sikh Society went all out this week to bring an exciting Langar to campus, offering a warm and welcoming meal to students! The initiative promoted inclusivity, kindness, and solidarity. Their commitment to sharing and supporting others truly exemplifies the spirit of unity and generosity. We’re proud to highlight their hard work and dedication to making a positive impact on campus life!

Congratulations to the Athletics Club for their outstanding performance at the BUCS Indoors last weekend, where they won an impressive 5 medals (4 silver medals and 1 bronze)! Special shoutouts to Amy Warre, Stephanie Okoro, Michelle Yalekhue, and the men’s 4x200m team for their fantastic achievements. Their dedication and hard work are truly paying off, showcasing the talent and commitment within the team. Next up: BUCS Outdoors and the exciting West London Varsity!

Abhishek Ghawate, Student Assembly Community Member

For the second year in a row, Abhishek worked closely with the Union to organise a Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti celebration at Brunel. The event honored Shivaji Maharaj, one of India's greatest rulers and freedom fighters, whose legacy continues to inspire. His rich cultural legacy, forward-thinking and efforts to set India free from foreign invaders earned him respect not only in Maharashtra but across India. The celebration was well-attended, with students and staff joining to mark his birth anniversary, promoting unity, pride, and cultural heritage.
