We have some exciting news; in the newly released Which? University survey, Brunel has been ranked as one of the top-rated universities for its ‘sport scene’. It is great that our students rate our sports offer as one of the best, with the survey asking over 10,000 students from 127 universities to judge their institution across various areas including sport.
With a 34% increase in Union Sport Memberships last year following the introduction of free club memberships, and active@brunel being shortlisted for the BUCS Sports Participation Programme of the Year at the BUCS annual awards, it is fantastic to see that these changes are reflected in students’ views of our offer.
When asked about the award, Vice President of Student Activities George Wardle said:
“We are delighted to see that Brunel has been recognised in the recent Which? University Report for our sports offering. The Union has been working for the last 3 years on developing a sense of belonging and togetherness through our Team Brunel brand, the introduction of free sports club membership and our Active@Brunel participation programme. The hard work done by all involved is clearly having a real impact on the opportunities available to members and their perceptions of Sport here at Brunel. This recognition is a testament to the real partnership approach we have with the University and their Sports department, and the hard work of our previous Vice President Michael Darlow who initiated the positive changes we are incredibly proud of.”
