More needs to be done by the union to support students who want to start societies, and those who are currently in committees with existing societies. My suggestion comes from being within a societies committee for 2 years. The union should ideally: - Make the process of forming a society easier, as the process of gathering the signatures of 15 people can be difficult for some who may not have wide outreach. - Encourage the formation of societies, and make the process much more known to the broader cohort - Provide increased support for smaller societies. - Open a dialog with the central university regarding room bookings, as societies being limited to evening bookings can disadvantage those who commute to the university and may not have quick and/or accessible transport home.
