What is the Welfare & Inclusion Council?

The Welfare & Inclusion Council brings students together to work on wellbeing, equality, inclusion and the wider student experience. It's a space to raise concerns, share experiences and work through what needs to change.

Leadership

The Council meets at least once per Semester and is chaired by the Welfare & Inclusion President, with support from the Co-Vice Chairs: the Student Wellbeing Volunteer Facilitator and Equity & Inclusion Volunteer Facilitator.

What does the Council focus on?

The Welfare & Inclusion Council debates and works on policy and campaigns covering students' wellbeing and inclusion, including:

Covering safety on and around campus, including personal and online safety.

Covering equality and inclusion issues affecting students from all backgrounds.

Who sits on the Welfare & Inclusion Council?

The Welfare & Inclusion Council has 22 members representing Student Networks and the wider student body.

Nine Student Network Chairs sit on the Council and represent their networks.

Student Network Members

Ten students who are members of a Student Network are appointed to ensure wider Student Network members are represented.

Volunteer Facilitator Roles

The Council has two Volunteer Facilitator roles: the Student Wellbeing Volunteer Facilitator and the Equity & Inclusion Volunteer Facilitator. Both are Co-Vice Chairs of the Welfare & Inclusion Council and work with the Welfare & Inclusion President and the Student Voice team.

What does the role involve?

The role supports the running of the Council - helping with agendas, minutes and the day-to-day organisation of meetings, alongside representing wellbeing or equity and inclusion issues.
