Hi, I'm Abdul Moeez, your Home Student's Officer!
I’m a dedicated and approachable student passionate about creating an inclusive and supportive university experience for all. As Home Students Officer, I understand the unique challenges home students face and am committed to representing their needs and building a stronger sense of community. I’m currently studying Computer Science , and I enjoy working collaboratively with peers to drive positive change.
Previously, I’ve held leadership roles in student groups and volunteering initiatives, which have equipped me with strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. I look forward to using these experiences to support, engage, and empower home students throughout the year.
Hopes for My Term:
As Home Students Officer, my primary goal is to ensure that the voices of home students are heard, valued, and acted upon. I aim to foster a more inclusive and engaging university environment where home students feel a strong sense of community, support, and belonging.
Throughout my term, I will:
- Create and promote events that help home students connect, collaborate, and build lasting friendships.
- Advocate for academic and wellbeing support tailored to the needs of home students, including commuting, part-time work, and integration.
- Strengthen communication between home students and the SU, ensuring regular feedback opportunities and transparency in decision-making.
- Collaborate with other officers and networks to celebrate diversity and bridge the gap between home and international students.
Ultimately, I hope to empower home students with the tools, opportunities, and confidence to thrive – not just academically, but as valued and active members of the wider university community.
