Hi all! I am Meghna Girish Khatri, your current Women's Officer for the academic year 2024/24.
I study at Brunel University London specializing in LLM - International Financial Regulation and Corporate Law. But I'm not just about the legal jargon—I'm here to talk empowerment of Women.
From the complexities of the law to the nuances of gender equality, I've got you covered. With a knack for legal advocacy, persuasive communication, inspirational leadership, compassionate empathy, and strategic planning, I'm all about making things happen.
Imagine a campus where women aren't just participants but leaders, shaping the future. That's the future I envision, and I need your help to make it a reality.
Vision, Priorities and Campaign:
My vision, priorities and campaign into a straightforward statement are presented as under: -
Women’s Empowerment Podcast: Create a platform that enables women to be freely Vocal to address their concerns and promote mental wellbeing. Use this platform to provide mental health support to Women aiding to a healthy studying environment.
Security: Partnering with Brunel University to distribute free personal security alarms, enhancing safety measures for women
Health and hygiene: Ensure cleanliness and accessibility of the restrooms throughout the campus. Secondly, increase the number of vending machines of sanitary products on campus for women’s to be stress free in the hour of need. Also, rob in with Brunel University to allocate dedicated section for women in the medical centre in collaboration with Hamilton Hospital to deal with emergency situations like pregnancy and contraception issues.
Social media: Use social media platform wherein they can openly talk about their issues ensuring that their identity stays anonymous. In addition, create a series of empowering and relatable memes that highlight issues faced by female students, celebrate their achievements, and promote self-care and well-being. Organizing a virtual social media meet.
Safety: Run a campaign “Code Word: A tool for your safety” to seek immediate assistance and support in potentially unsafe situations on campus. Also to collaborate with the sexual discipline committee to keep a check on the grievances lodged with the Complaints Cell. Scheduling in person meetings twice a month to address grievances concerning Women of Brunel including sexual violence and harassment.
Diversity and Inclusion Campaigns: Promote a culture of diversity and inclusion on campus through campaigns that celebrate the contributions of women from diverse backgrounds. Ensure that women of all ethnicities, cultures, abilities, and sexual orientations feel welcome and supported.
Community Building Activities: Organize events and activities that foster a sense of community among female students, such as women's clubs, discussion groups, or social gatherings. Creating a supportive network can help women feel more connected and empowered in their academic journey.
Professional Development Workshops: Organize panel discussion and Alumni meet with former students showcasing their experiences for female students to network and learn strategies to overcome challenges. Also empower students from STEM fields where women are traditionally underrepresented.
