Online Committee Elections

When are elections held?
- Elections take place every year in February/March to form the new committee for the following academic year.
- All positions the club/society has will be uploaded to the election on Brunel Students website (https://brunelstudents.com/activities/teambrunel/committeeelections/)
- Election Structure
- Nomination Week: Students submit themselves for roles (Monday to Friday)
- Voting Week: Members vote online (Monday to Friday the following week)
- Results Week: Results are announced shortly after
- Committee Responsibilities
- Promote the Elections:
- Use group chats, social media, or mailing lists to let members know about available positions.
- Encourage nominations and explain what each role entails.
- Ensure Eligibility:
- Only members with an active Union Sport or Club Standard Membership can vote or stand.
- Members must join at least four weeks before the VONC or election notice to vote.
- Compulsory Roles to Elect:
- Chair/President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Optional: Welfare Officer, Events Officer, Social Media Officer, etc.
- If a required role is missing from the election portal, email Student Activities before nominations open.

- All elections must be run online.
- Even if a candidate is unopposed, they must receive at least one vote to be elected.
- Offline voting is not accepted under any circumstance
- Hustings
- What is it?
- A hustings is a formal meeting where election candidates introduce themselves, explain why they're running, and answer questions from the audience.
- It helps members make informed decisions by understanding each candidate’s vision and approach.
- When to run one?
- During your AGM or as a stand-alone meeting before voting opens.
- Committee Meetings

- Should take place regularly (ideally every 2–3 weeks) to manage club/society operations.
- Include:
- A shared agenda (sent in advance)
- Assigned note-taker to minute the meeting
- Action points with deadlines and responsibility assigned
