Want to Start a New Sports Club or Society?

Step 1: Check for Duplicates

  • Search the list of existing clubs and societies.

  • Make sure your idea isn’t already represented, duplicates aren’t supported.

Step 2: Find Your Crew

  • Rally a few friends who are enthusiastic about your idea.

  • You’ll need a small group to help get things off the ground.

Step 3: Form a Provisional Committee

  • Choose three key roles:

    • Chair

    • Treasurer

    • Secretary

Step 4: Gather Support

  • Collect names and emails of at least 15 students who are interested in joining.

  • This shows there’s real demand for your club or society.

Step 5: Apply Online

  • Fill out the application form [here] to officially propose your new group.

Step 6: Application Review

  • The Student Activities team will review your submission.

  • They may contact you for more details if needed.

Step 7: Committee Decision

  • Your application goes to:

    • Team Brunel Committee (for sports clubs)

    • Societies Guild Committee (for societies)

  • These student-elected committees meet fortnightly during term time.

Step 8: Outcome & Next Steps

  • You’ll be contacted by the Student Activities team with the decision.

  • If approved: they’ll guide you through setup.

  • If queried or rejected: they’ll explain why and help you revise your application.
